Upgrade MinIO KMS on Upstream Kubernetes

You can upgrade the MinIO Key Management Service (KMS) version in a given cluster by specifying a new image to the Helm chart.

Review and complete all prerequisites before proceeding.

  1. Make a backup of the current state of your KMS cluster.

    minkms backup
  2. Apply the new image to the minkms release.

Replace RELEASE_TAG with the MinIO KMS release to upgrade to:

    helm upgrade minkms minio/minkms --reuse-values -n minkms \
      --set minkms.image.repository=quay.io/minio/aistor/minkms \
      --set minkms.image.tag=RELEASE_TAG

If successful, the command outputs a summary of installed resources.

To validate the upgrade, run kubectl get all -n minkms and check the status of deployed resources.
