Scale MinIO KMS on Upstream Kubernetes

MinIO Key Management Service (KMS) installs on Kubernetes as a StatefulSet. As a result, you can quickly scale up or down by modifying the desired number of replicas.

By default, the minkms chart deploys three (3) replicas.

Use the following procedure to adjust the number of replicas up or down to meet your requirements.

  1. Set minkms.replicas on the minkms release.

The following command scales MinIO KMS to four replicas:

    helm upgrade minkms minio/minkms --reuse-values -n minkms --set minkms.replicas=4

If successful, the command outputs a summary of installed resources.

To validate the change, run kubectl get all -n minkms and check the status of deployed resources.

  2. Update any load balancers, reverse proxies, or other network control components to include the new host as part of the configuration.
